What's an election worker?

An election worker is someone who helps set up polling locations, assist voters, manage ballot processes, run voting equipment, and ensure legal, safe, fair elections. Roles include:

  • Presiding Judge / Alternate Judge
  • Election Clerks
  • Early Voting Clerks
  • Volunteer Deputy Registrars
  • Poll Workers / Inspectors

Eligibility & Requirements

To serve as an election worker in Bell County, you must meet these legal requirements under Texas law:

  • Be a U.S. citizen.
  • Be a qualified voter in the county where you serve.
  • Not currently have any disqualifying legal judgments (such as certain felony convictions, unless rights have been restored).

Training & Compensation

You’ll be given training to fulfill your duties properly:

  • Texas offers Online Poll Worker Training and handbooks for judges, clerks, etc.
  • Bell County also schedules training sessions for positions such as Volunteer Deputy Registrars. 

Compensation in Bell County (rates may vary) is generally in the range of $15-17 per hour for many poll worker positions.
